Today was my advanced ceramics' final critique. It began with a delicious feast of mango salsa, goat cheese with crackers, and little pies. After stuffing our faces, we all gathered around each final piece, listened to the artist share their statement, and then responded to their given question.
The above image is my final piece titled "She Could Scarcely Breathe." The main inspiration of this piece is channeled from two characters from my favorite book; 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. The piece is low-fired porcelaneous stoneware with acrylic and oil paint finish. In regards to my work as a whole, the critique was very helpful. I posed the question of how may I better explain to the viewer of my intentions with my piece without writing it out in the sand for them. After hearing everyone's responses, I gathered that I need to explore my idea of recreating memories through dreamlike environments. Oh its driving me mad just thinking of what my hands will create next. Wishing you a lovely night!
